Staff
Lakewood Cerritos Dental Centers was founded in 1967 by Abelardo
Lopez, D.D.S. The dental office was originally located at South Street and Bellflower
Boulevard, Lakewood, California. It was not called Lakewood Cerritos Dental Centers then,
and after four years we moved to a location inside the Cerritos Mall, in
space number 395, and gave it the name 'Cerritos Dental Center'. This office
had 2 doctors, 6 chairs, and 4 employees.
As the practice grew, expansion was necessary and
we moved across 183rd Street to our present Cerritos location in 1980. This new office was very large,
but was perfectly suited to our growing business needs. New doctors were hired and more services
were offered to dental patients, like orthodontics (braces). This location
currently has 25 chairs
and 30 employees.
In 1997 more space was needed in Cerritos for administration
and file storage. By renting the office space next door, "Suite B"
was created. It is just across the hall from the Cerritos Office's
front door, and has additional patient waiting areas and staff for insurance
verification. Suite B is designed to help serve our patients needs
as the business further expands.
A second office building was constructed in Lakewood
to further expand the practice. This two-story office building was completed in 1991. It has 30 operatories,
and a staff of 30 people. Our Lakewood office is centrally-located to serve the needs of
our community.
It is the goal of Lakewood Cerritos Dental Centers to provide
the best quality of dental care and service to our patients that we can.
By offering a choice of two locations, we can better serve our community.
We offer new patients the choice of over a dozen dentists, plus specialists in
orthodontics and pediatrics.
We are a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO),
and can honor nearly all forms of dental insurance, including most California Dental Health Maintenance Organization
(HMO) plans. We can even handle dual insurance coverage situations.

Many of our doctors have degrees
from prestigious universities such as UCLA and U.S.C., and have a vast amount of combined experience.

The assistants, hygienists, and technicians are
all very capable and highly trained people, and are naturally courteous and thoughtful to our patients.
We have dental Treatment Counselors whom, after
initial patient examinations, can go over these examinations as a “Treatment Plan” with the patient, explaining
each doctor-recommended dental treatment and procedure at a time to better explain
the myriad fees and co-payments involved with insured patients.
